Congress Passes Continuing Resolution; The Alliance for Biosecurity Calls for Long-Term PAHPA Reauthorization

WASHINGTON, D.C. –The Alliance for Biosecurity issued the following statement on the passage of a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government and the lapse of the Pandemic and All Hazards Preparedness Act’s (PAHPA) authorization:

“The Alliance for Biosecurity applauds Congress for adopting a continuing resolution to fund the government and critical biodefense programs necessary to protect Americans from chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats. Sustainable funding for critical biosecurity programs is a national security and public health priority.

The Alliance urges Congress to now prioritize the reauthorization PAHPA to maintain critical public-private partnerships and other health and security programs that support the development, procurement, and stockpiling of live-saving medical countermeasures (MCMs).”
