Alliance for Biosecurity Applauds Senator Bill Cassidy’s Selection as Senate HELP Committee Chair

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Alliance for Biosecurity congratulates Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) on being selected as Chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee for the 119th Congress.

“Senator Cassidy understands the critical importance of collaboration between government and private industry to address public health and biodefense challenges.

His experience and leadership will shape policies that promote innovation while enhancing our preparedness against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats,” said Alliance for Biosecurity Co-Chair Chris Frech. “These vital issues rise above partisan politics, and Senator Cassidy’s leadership will foster bipartisan efforts to protect Americans from evolving public health and national security threats,” said Alliance for Biosecurity Secretariat Jack Kingston.

In August 2024, Senator Cassidy received the Alliance for Biosecurity Congressional Champion Award, which honors the leadership and actions taken by Members of Congress to improve U.S. national security, preparedness, and response for biosecurity threats.

The Alliance stands ready to work with Senator Cassidy and the HELP Committee to advance policies that strengthen our nation’s preparedness and response, including the timely reauthorization of the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA).”
