WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, the Alliance for Biosecurity released the following statement applauding the Biden administration’s biodefense plan to protect the nation from future pandemics and biological threats. According to media reports, President Biden’s plan utilizes 20 different federal agencies to detect future threats, prepare for possible new pandemics, respond to new outbreaks, and help the economy and the environment to recover following a biosecurity crisis.
“The members of the Alliance for Biosecurity applaud the Biden administration’s ambitious plan to prepare the nation against future pandemic and biosecurity threats. By harnessing the full power of the federal government, America will be far better prepared for biosecurity threats, able to respond to emerging outbreaks, and recover from pandemic events.
“A key resource in America’s biosecurity preparedness is the Strategic National Stockpile. Congress and the administration must work together to ensure that the SNS is fully funded and stocked appropriately to respond to any threat America may face. Rather than waiting for the next crisis to emerge, both parties should prioritize long-term government preparedness, ensuring we have the best tools on hand.
